2025 Golden Globe Awards: All the Records That Were Broken

After the 82nd Golden Globe Awards, VegasInsider has updated the list of all the records that were broken during the 2025 awards ceremony.

To highlight a few of the records that were broken, Hiroyuki Sanada (who won for “Shōgun”) became the first Asian actor to ever win in the Best Actor in a Television Series - Drama category, Jeremy Allen White (who won for “The Bear”) joined Michael J. Fox and Alan Alda and achieved a rare feat of winning in the Best Actor in a Television Series - Comedy in three consecutive years, Ali Wong (who won for “Ali Wong: Single Lady”) became the first woman to ever win in the Best Performance in a Stand-Up Comedy category at the Golden Globes while Fernanda Torres (who won for “I’m Still Here”) became the first Brazilian actress to win in the Best Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama.

FILM CATEGORIES

BEST ACTRESS - DRAMA 

• Fernanda Torres (won for “I’m Still Here”) became the first Brazilian actress to ever win in the Best Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama category

BEST ACTOR - COMEDY/MUSICAL

• Sebastian Stan (won for “A Different Man”) became the first Romanian actor to win in the Best Actor in a Motion Picture - Comedy category (Stan is Romanian-American and he was born in Constanta, Romania)

TV CATEGORIES

BEST ACTOR - DRAMA SERIES

• Hiroyuki Sanada (won for “Shōgun”) became the first Asian actor (and also the first Japanese actor) to ever win in the Best Actor in a Television Series - Drama category 

BEST ACTOR - COMEDY SERIES

• Jeremy Allen White (won for “The Bear”) joined Michael J. Fox and Alan Alda and achieved a rare feat of winning in the Best Actor in a Television Series - Comedy in three consecutive years, following his wins in 2023 and 2024 

BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR - SERIES / MINISERIES / TV FILM

• Tadanobu Asano (won for “Shōgun”) became the first Japanese actor to ever win in the Best Supporting Actor - Series, Miniseries or TV Film category (and only the second Asian actor to ever do so) 

BEST PERFORMANCE IN A STAND-UP COMEDY ON TV

• Ali Wong (won for “Ali Wong: Single Lady”) became the first woman to ever win in the stand-up comedy category
