7 Tips On How To Find The Top Bitcoin Casino

7 Tips On How To Find The Top Bitcoin Casino

Bitcoin casinos are becoming increasingly popular as the cryptocurrency gains mainstream adoption. As of now, there are thousands of online casinos to select from, each catering to different needs and preferences. An increase in the popularity of cryptocurrency as a gaming medium has also given birth to new casinos like Bitcoin-only casinos and those that accept both fiat and cryptocurrencies. It can be challenging to know where to start when looking for a top bitcoin casino with many options. Here are seven tips to help you find the best casino for your needs:

1. Look for a Casino That Offers a Wide Range of Games

The vast majority of today's games consist of a plethora of visually stunning graphics. A good bitcoin casino should include classic casino games such as poker, blackjack, roulette, and slots and a wide selection of newer games. The best casinos will also offer live dealer games for those who want a more authentic casino experience.

The world's most popular Bitcoin casinos will likely provide the widest range of games. As outlined by The South African Article, popular casinos such as BitStarz, Cloudbet, and mBitCasino offer an extensive selection of slots, table games, live dealer games, and more. A minimum of 60 games should be available at any top casino to ensure that players have plenty of choices.

2. Consider the Casino's Welcome Bonus and Ongoing Promotions

Most online casinos offer some welcome bonus or promotion to new players. This is usually a match deposit bonus, where the casino will match your first deposit up to a certain amount. For example, a 100% match deposit bonus of up to 1 BTC would mean that the casino would give you 1 BTC if you deposited 1 BTC yourself.

In addition to the welcome bonus, it is also worth considering any ongoing promotions that the casino offers. These can include reloading bonuses, cashback offers, and free spins. The best casinos will offer regular promotions to keep players coming back for more. Be sure to check the terms and conditions of the bonus before claiming it, as some bonuses may be subject to wagering requirements or other conditions.

3. Make Sure the Casino is Provably Fair

Provably fair casinos use cryptographic algorithms to ensure that the outcome of each game is completely random and cannot be manipulated by the casino. This makes it impossible for the casino to cheat its players, which is an important consideration when choosing a place to gamble.

Fortunately, there is a way to determine if an online casino is provably fair. The casino uses cryptographic algorithms to generate random outcomes for its games, which players can verify. The best casinos will always be provably fair, as this provides players with the assurance that they are being treated fairly. Also, check player reviews to see if the casino has been accused of unfair practices in the past.

4. Consider the Casino's Customer Support

If you ever run into any problems while playing at an online casino, it is vital to access a reliable customer support team. The best casinos will offer 24/7 support through live chat, email, and telephone. Customer service should be friendly and efficient and should be able to resolve any issues you may have promptly.

In addition, the casino's website should be easy to navigate and provide clear information on all of the games and services that are available. It is also worth checking to see if the casino has a FAQ section that can provide answers to common questions. If the casino does not offer 24/7 support or does not have a FAQ section, it is probably best to avoid playing at that casino.

5. Check the Casino's License and Regulation

When looking for a top bitcoin casino, it is important to check that the site is licensed and regulated by a reputable authority. A quick Google search should reveal any major scandals or problems. You can also check player forums and review sites for feedback from other players. This will ensure that the games are fair and that your money is safe.

It's also good to check whether the casino is licensed by a reputable gaming authority such as the UK Gambling Commission or the Malta Gaming Authority. These agencies ensure that casinos operate fairly and responsibly, so a license from one is a good sign. You can usually find this information at the bottom of the homepage. If you cannot find the license information, it is best to avoid the casino.

6. Consider the Casino's Banking Options

One important consideration when choosing a casino is its banking options. The best casinos will offer a wide range of deposit and withdrawal methods, including credit cards, e-wallets, and cryptocurrency wallets. The transaction fees and processing times should also be considered.

Popular deposit methods at online casinos include credit/debit cards, e-wallets such as PayPal, Neteller, and Skrill, and crypto-wallets such as Bitcoin Core (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), and Bitcoin Cash (BCH). The best casinos will offer fast and efficient payouts with minimal fees when it comes to withdrawals. Check each method's fees, limits, and processing times before selecting one.

7. Read the Casino's Terms and Conditions

Before creating an account at a casino, read its terms and conditions. This document includes important information on bonuses, responsible gaming, and self-exclusion. It's important to understand these terms before playing, as they can impact your rights and responsibilities as a player. Some of the most effective terms and conditions include:

  • Wagering requirements: These specify how many times you must wager a bonus before you can withdraw the winnings.

  • Maximum bet size: This limits the amount you can bet on each game.

  • Deposit and withdrawal limits: These limit the amount of money you can deposit or withdraw from your account.

  • Self-exclusion: This allows you to exclude yourself from the casino for a set period.

By reading the terms and conditions, you can ensure that you know all the rules and regulations that apply to your account. This will help you avoid any surprises down the line and make sure that you are playing fair.

These are just a few tips to help you find the top bitcoin casino. With so many options available, it's important to do your research before choosing one. By following these tips, you can be sure that you're choosing a reputable and fair casino that will offer you a great gambling experience.

Your Perfect Choice: Best Champagne Cocktail Recipes for a Romantic Movie Night

So, you’ve decided to have a romantic date night with your partner. But you don’t want to leave the house. Therefore, you want to relax indoors by watching a movie and having quality, romantic moments with your spouse. Champaign cocktail and films form a perfect pair for a romantic night.

They make the experience so memorable and fun. If you watch a movie with a dance scene, you can play along while sipping your cocktail. Your experience will be as fantastic as when you visit a casino to play slots for real money drinking your favorite drink.

Whether you want to watch an action-packed Schwarzenegger movie or a romantic comedy, sipping a champagne cocktail with your partner will make your night more fun and romantic. Here are some of the best champagne cocktail recipes for a romantic movie night.

The Rom-Com and Champagne Cocktail

Champagne captures the new love feeling perfectly well. It’s flirty and fun, and you should enjoy this before it frizzles. This champagne recipe adds sugar and bitters, creating something more. Here’s how to make this champagne cocktail.

Ingredients

  • Champagne

  • Sugar cube

  • Garnish

  • 2-4 dashes of Angostura bitters

Steps

  1. Douse the sugar cube on a bar spoon with your bitters

  2. Drop the sugar cube into a Champagne flute

  3. Fill the flute with Champagne

  4. Garnish the mix with a lemon twist

This champagne cocktail will undoubtedly capture the enthusiasm of your romantic night as you watch movies with your spouse.

Green Beast

Charles Vexenat, the award-winning bartender with a track record of working in Ibiza and London, created this champagne cocktail in 2010. Since then, this drink has become a famous absinthe cocktail.

Ingredients

  • Three peeled seedless cucumber slices

  • One ounce of simple syrup

  • One ounce of Pernod absinthe

  • One ounce of freshly squeezed lime juice

  • Four ounces of chilled water

  • Garnish or cucumber slices

Steps

  1. Muddle simple syrup and cucumbers in a Collins glass

  2. Add ice, lime juice, and absinthe

  3. Top the glass with garnish and chilled water with more cucumber slices

Green Beast is fierce sounding but also a friendly cocktail. To scale up the ingredients, multiply each by your preferred number of servings.

Boulevardier

Boulevardier means a man-about-town. Erskine Gwynne created this cocktail. He is the same person who published the Boulevardier magazine for ex-pats in Paris. Achieving excellent results with this cocktail depends on the marriage between the sweet vermouth and the base spirit.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 ounces of bourbon or rye whiskey

  • One ounce of sweet vermouth

  • One ounce of Campari

  • Garnish, preferably an orange twist

Steps

  1. Add Campari, bourbon, and sweet vermouth to the ice in a mixing glass and stir them

  2. Strain over the fresh ice into the rocks glass

  3. Use an orange twist to garnish the mixture

This champagne cocktail will take you back to Paris in 1920. Combine this with an excellent movie, and you will enjoy the most romantic movie night with your better half.

Mai Tai

Mai Tai is a popular Tiki drink, comprising orange Curacao, rum, orgeat, and fresh lime juice. It has remained the favorite drink for Tiki fans and cocktail enthusiasts for decades. If you’ve watched the Blue Hawaii film by Elvis Presley, you’ve seen a star enjoy this cocktail.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 ounces of white rum

  • ¾ ounce of orange curacao

  • ¾ ounce of freshly squeezed lime juice

  • ½ ounce orgeat

  • ½ ounce of dark rum

  • Garnish, mint sprig

  • Garnish, lime wheel

Steps

  1. Add curacao, white rum, orgeat, and lime juice into crushed ice in a shaker and shake lightly

  2. Add the mixture into a glass of double rocks

  3. Float dark rum over the mix

  4. Garnish with mint sprig and lime wheel

This champagne cocktail can feature cherries or pineapple wedges at the top. However, mint spring and lime wheel are the best choices for anyone that loves keeping the presentation classic and cool.

Harvey Wallbanger

Donato Antone, a California bartender, prepared this champagne cocktail for the first time in the 1950s. Up to now, people have enjoyed this classic cocktail on modern dates. Putting this drink together is a breeze, and you don’t even require a shaker. You can prepare it with glass only.

Ingredients

  • ½ ounces of Galliano L’Autentico liqueur

  • 1 1/4 ounces of vodka

  • Three ounces of freshly squeezed orange juice

  • Garnish, maraschino cherry

  • Garnish, orange slice

Steps

  1. Add ice into a tall glass and then orange juice and vodka

  2. Stir the mixture and then float Galliano over it

  3. Garnish with a maraschino cherry and skewered orange slice

Enjoying this cocktail with your partner during a romantic movie night will take you back to the old, lovely days of disco. Galliano sets this cocktail apart due to its distinct taste, transforming it completely.

50/50 Martini

Most people know the usual classic Martin recipe of dry vermouth, gin, and bitter leaves, in some cases. However, this creates an interpretation room. For instance, you can make a drier drink by going heavy on the gin. But if you wish to enjoy a more romantic night watching a movie with your better half, here’s how you can create this cocktail.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 ounces of gin

  • 1 1/2 ounces of dry vermouth

  • One orange bitters dash

  • Garnish, lemon twist

Steps

  1. Add dry vermouth, orange bitters, and gin into a mixing glass

  2. Fill it with ice and then stir till chilled

  3. Strain into the chilled cocktail glass

  4. Use a lemon twist to garnish it

50/50 Martin is not the classic drink most people know due to its low-alcohol sensibilities and lighter flavor. However, it’s an excellent cocktail to enjoy while watching your favorite movie with your partner.

Michelada

Michele is a beautiful cocktail with an unclear origin. However, this drink dates back to the mid-20th century, when it became popular in Mexico. It’s a classic Mexican cocktail that kicks up the beer flavor with accessories like hot sauce and lime. This cocktail’s name combines “chela” which means a light beer, helada, which means cold, and mi, to imply “my cold beer.”

Some Michelada recipes include Clamato, a mixture of tomato juices and clam or tomato juice only, to create the Bloody Mary-style drink comprising beer rather than vodka. However, you can prepare this drink with relies on spices, hot sauce, and citrus instead of tomato juice.

Ingredients

  • One pinch of salt

  • One bit of cayenne pepper

  • One lime wedge

  • ½ ounce of freshly squeezed lime juice

  • Two Worcestershire sauce dashes

  • One ground black pepper pinch

  • One celery salt pinch

  • One chilled Mexican lager beer bottle

Steps

  1. Add an equal amount of cayenne pepper and salt parts to a shallow bowl or a plate. Rube lime wedge on the pint glass and dip the rim into a cayenne-salt mixture.

  2. Add Worcestershire sauce, lime juice, black pepper, celery salt, and Tabasco into the glass.

  3. Fill the glass with beer and use the lime wedge to garnish the mixture.

  4. These champagne cocktails capture the love feeling nicely, and you will treasure the moments you spend with your better half watching a film and sipping your drink. You can try one of these cocktail recipes for romantic movie nights or several until you find your perfect choice.

MOVIE REVIEW: The Time Capsule

THE TIME CAPSULE– 4 STARS

Injecting science fiction into a story can be a bit of a magic wand. Slick futuristic plot devices can make a few “what if” and “would-coulda-shoulda” dreams come true with a figurative wave of a hand or taps on a screenwriter’s keyboard. Nevertheless, that kind of intellectual escapism in movies will always tantalize. Embracing a quaint romance with heady consequences, The Time Capsule flicks its wrist for a little magic without sacrificing the seriousness of its premise’s implications.

In the not-too-distant future, Jack Lambert (Todd Grinnell of Amazon’s With Love) is an enthusiastic and optimistic politician coming off of a very public election loss. Jarred in the confidence department and licking his public image wounds, Jack seeks solace and media silence, much to the chagrin of his publicist Roger (Ravi Patel of Meet the Patels). He decides to take his extremely poised and goal-centered wife Maggie (Private Practice’s KaDee Strickland) down to his family’s old lake house in Georgia for some R&R and a romantic getaway.

The man has not been back to the place in 20 years and embraces the simplified homeliness it brings, while Maggie plots for its quick refurbishment in order to turn a profitable sale. To bring the place back into its former glory, Jack enlists his old friend Patrice (comedian and podcaster Baron Vaughn) to perform the work, and the two reconnect as buddies. Jack welcomes the old memories both Patrice and the lake house bring, but nothing prepares him for the overwhelming sight of Elise (Brianna Hildebrand of Lucifer and Deadpool).

Here’s the intriguing rub of science fiction. Elise left with her father Hank (Nelson Bonilla of Ozark) twenty years ago for a colonization mission to space that returned in failure. She awakened from the hibernation journey back on Earth unaged. She looks and feels as 18 as the day she left, while the world, Jack, and everyone else moved forward two decades.

LESSON #1: WEIGH THESE CHOICES AND CIRCUMSTANCES YOURSELFThe Time Capsule’s introduction/reintroduction of Elise coyly opens up the moral and ethical questions of its premise for the audience. One cannot help but ask themselves if they could have put life on hold the way Elise did for such a quest. They will simultaneously measure what their mindsets would be both as Elise being displaced by time and as Jack being forced to remember who he used to be before the same years changed and jaded him.

LESSON #2: PATRONIZING IS BAD AT ANY AGE– With a not-so-subtle hint of behest paired with competition, Maggie welcomes Elise into their home only to be marginalized by her and others as too young to understand the wisdom of everyone else and the current times. Conversations with her are frequently peppered with admonishing retorts of “you’ll see” or “you’ll learn.” In fair contrast, Elise sees the older versions of her former friends and questions how they got so boring, bitter, content with disappointment, and tired without the dreams she remembers them having. There’s a reason both ages of people get that way, and the dueling barbs of self-reflection hit home strongly.

LESSON #3: THERE’S SOMETHING SPECIAL ABOUT FIRST LOVES– Through it all, the connection between Elise and Jack is undeniable. A rolling quarter of fate brought them together at a movie theater, and the two were lockstep in their adoration and ambition until she departed. That coin has been in Jack’s pocket ever since as a good luck charm. They were each other’s first loves and those always resonate for life. For Elise, that love was yesterday while it’s been over 7,300 yesterdays for Jack. They initially find themselves living life with different attitudes, wants, and little in common. Yet, here Jack is with that coin in his pocket as if he never truly let her go.

It would be really easy for a movie like The Time Capsule to skew to the lustful side of this kind of serendipitous dream fulfillment. Plenty of middle-aged men could very well find an unshakeable desire to galivant with their dream girl magically still at their prime dream girl age. Debut feature director Erwann Marshall and his co-writer Chad Fifer (The Chosen One) wisely avoid that fetishistic trap and instead put the moral ideals forward in the film.

Through their rekindled time together, Elise and Jack are thrust into an enchanting situation of reexamined possibilities only with two different gaps of experienced history. Elise’s future is wide open while Jack is firmly married and earmarked for the next big political contest. Their bygone and borderline forbidden attraction is tempered while they explore their true selves and comparatively heal their mutual lost feelings from where they used to be. For a little movie like this one to stoke those controlled fires in an alluring way without overplaying the melodrama is a tremendous accomplishment.

The magnetic sweep of The Time Capsule emanates from the yearning energy generated by this lead couple and kept at an arm’s length. The soft-eyed Todd Grinnell wears his feelings on his sleeve in a very fine performance balancing honesty and chivalry. Even greater, Brianna Hildebrand’s hopeful spirit is as fetching as her youthful beauty. The hearts of their character match so well, even if their exterior ages do not, where you root for one more sci-fi infusion of magic.

LESSON #4: THE ENDURANCE OF RELATIONSHIPS– Marshall and Fifer used the guarded and obstructed romantic feelings of The Time Capsule to ponder the endurance of relationships. Their narrative applies the word “vast” to the wonder and mystery of love within the very advanced setting of its story. That’s a fitting word to describe all the little pieces of fate, destiny, choices, and emotions that line up between two people. As softly as it does, The Time Capsule successfully conveys that level of contemplation in a wholly endearing way.

GUEST EDITORIAL: Why Are We Drawn to Crime Films?

Image: https://ift.tt/f0XLzo3

Why Are We Drawn to Crime Films?

by Pamela Foster

Fictional villains are far easier for the human brain to comprehend than real-life monsters. An imaginary character may be capable of unspeakable crimes, but you hope real people have some boundaries.

Unfortunately, most people know that this is not the case. After all, many people have been locked away because of their unbelievable actions.

Luckily, websites like lookupinmate.org can help you track the progress of the justice system. If the thought of true crimes keeps you up at night, finding that countless criminals are securely locked away will provide some peace of mind.

Childhood Stories

From “Hansel and Gretel” to “Snow White and the Seven Dwarves,” we have heard the stories of good versus evil since we were children. The battle between right and wrong has captivated audiences for ages.

Crime films have the same premise as these childhood tales, but they heighten every emotion. Is it any surprise that, as we mature, we search for more thrilling stories?

Emotions

Humans are emotional beings. Consider yourself for a moment. You like to smile and laugh, but sometimes you need to feel other emotions. Everyone feels angry, sad, and scared at some point.

Herein lies the beauty of crime films. While you watch horrendous acts unfold, you can channel all of that negativity and blame someone who deserves only contempt.

After the film, you may feel some lingering emotions, but you have released the most intense ones. You can go on with your day more relaxed, as the negative emotions have been channeled elsewhere.

Additionally, crime films are often stories of love and passion. You may find a story to which you can relate or a family mending their bonds. Suddenly, you are rooting for these people who are so much like yourself.

Although suspense may draw us into a story, our empathy keeps us wanting more. Crime films do an excellent job of playing on all of your emotions.

Adrenaline

Adrenaline also plays a significant role in your devotion to crime films. Watching horrible actions triggers this hormone to course through your body. It puts you on the edge of your seat, your heart racing.

Adrenaline has an addictive effect, making it very difficult for you to look away. You need to watch until the end and maybe watch another crime film afterward.

People crave that sensation, but most actions that cause such a rush are dangerous. Instead, you observe others and taste the high from the safety of your couch.

Vulnerability

The world is a chaotic place. Do you wonder if you could fall victim to a terrible crime? Or watch the news and question if the same could happen to you?

The striking difference between news accounts and crime films is the ending. Many news stories are never solved. Some have closure years later, and you may never know. However, crime films typically feature consequences for the villain.

You find some comfort in knowing that good wins. These films allow you to hope the world is not as dangerous as it seems.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, you may be drawn to the chaos. What could push you to the point of committing such a horrible crime? It is hard to predict how you may react when strong emotions are in play. Some people see a part of themselves in the villain, and they need to know what happens to them in the end.

Theories Throughout History

Thousands of years ago, Plato believed that even good people occasionally fantasize about committing terrible acts. Perhaps watching crime films lets people live out these fantasies in a socially acceptable manner.

Freud believed that watching punishment befall lawbreakers reminds others of the need to follow societal norms. In this way, crime films promote a healthy society by reminding viewers of the consequences of breaking the law.

French sociologist Emile Durkheim theorized that criminals bring society together. A mutual condemnation of heinous acts unites the people watching. Additionally, some find psychological relief when they see their primal instincts come to life.

Conclusion

While the widespread appeal of crime films may seem unexplainable, there are many logical explanations for the draw of such movies.

Everyone battles with intense emotions, and it is healthy to release them in a non-violent manner. Many also find comfort in seeing that good wins, and that the world may not be as dangerous as it seems.

Philosophers have tried to explain the crucial role that criminals play for ages. Though they can only guess the root cause, they have found many potential reasons.

If you find yourself binge-watching crime films, you are not alone. Moreover, you are not a bad person. Emotions, adrenaline, and vulnerability are all inherent traits, and watching crime films is a healthy outlet for each one.

A Step-by-Step Guide for Turning Your Story Into a Successful Movie

Image: https://ift.tt/cb7dPqS

A Step-by-Step Guide for Turning Your Story Into a Successful Movie

There's nothing like sitting down to relax and watch the latest movie. That's why people regularly attend the cinema or check out reviews of films like Top Gun: Maverick.

Perhaps you've written a fictional book or documented your life history. If you'd love to turn it into a great movie, you're in luck! In this article, we'll walk you through the process of turning your story into a successful film.

Get Some Professional Assistance

The most obvious professionals who can help you are screenwriters, but there are plenty of others you can consult. Directors, producers, and even actors can all help you create the movie of your dreams. A development executive can turn your story into a screenplay whilst a script editor can give you valuable feedback.

An agent can take things to the next level and a story consultant can help you develop your idea. If you need story editors the internet can help you locate top freelancers, and you can view their work experience, chosen genres, and star ratings. It's possible to see their photos, learn about their services and request free quotes.

Think About Adaptation And Characters

You should ask yourself whether your story is conducive to being made into a film. This may seem like an obvious question, but you'd be surprised at how many people try to option movies that are better suited for other mediums. If your story is set in a single room with only two characters and revolves around a conversation, it might make for a great play but not necessarily a great movie. Consider the scope of your story and whether or not it can be translated onto the big screen. If you intend on featuring huge battle scenes, think about your budget and the cost of CGI.

Great movies always have great characters. Think about some of your favorite films and why you love them so much. It's probably because you either relate to - or are fascinated by - the characters in them. When thinking about adapting your story for the screen, you need to consider whether or not your characters are strong and three-dimensional enough to hold audiences' attention for two hours. If they're not, it might be worth going back to the drawing board to flesh them out a bit more.

Outline Your Story And Create A Treatment

This process will help you determine the key scenes, characters, and plot points that need to be included in the film. Once you have an outline, you can start writing the screenplay. If you're not sure how to write a treatment or outline, there are plenty of resources available online or at your local library. Once you have a basic understanding, you can start tailoring everything to fit your specific story.

Keep in mind that treatments and outlines are fluid documents; they will change as your story develops. Don't be afraid to experiment with different structures until you find one that works for you. And don't forget to consult with other writers, directors, and producers to get their valuable input.

Image: https://ift.tt/M2KOrxB

Get Feedback From Others And Attract Top Talent

You may be attached to your story and think it's ready to be made into a movie, but it's always important to get feedback from others before moving forward. Talk to people whose opinions you trust and who will give you honest feedback. Once you've taken their comments into consideration, you can decide whether or not making your story into a film is the right move.

You need to be able to attract top talent for your cast and crew. There are a few ways you can do this:

  • Make sure you have a good script. This is the most important consideration because if your script is amazing, people will want to be a part of it.

  • Get involved with film festivals. They're a great way to meet new talent and get your project in front of people who can help make it happen.

  • Do your research. When you're reaching out to potential cast and crew members, do your homework so you know what they're looking for in a movie.

  • Be passionate about your project. If you're zealous about your story, it'll show and they'll be inspired to collaborate with you.

Network

There are many organizations and groups specifically for filmmakers that can help connect you with the right people. If you know someone who's already made a successful film, they may:

  • be able to help you personally

  • introduce the right people

  • point you in the right direction

Once you've found some potential collaborators, it's important to do your research on them before you commit to working together. Make sure that their vision for the project aligns with your own and that they have the experience and skills necessary to help you turn your idea into a successful film.

Know How To Market Your Movie Effectively

Marketing is the process of creating a public image for your product, in this case, your movie. It's important to have a solid marketing strategy in place before you even start filming. You need to comprehend who your target audience is and how to access them. There are many ways to market a film, but some of the most effective are through social media, online advertising, and word-of-mouth.

Creating a strong social media presence is key to marketing your film effectively. Make sure to post updates regularly and interact with your followers. Use hashtags and keywords so that people can easily find your content. Online advertising is also a great way to reach potential viewers. Create ads that are attention-grabbing and be sure to target them to your specific audience. Finally, word-of-mouth can be an effective marketing tool in your armory -so tell everyone you know about your film and get them excited about it!

Another key consideration is finding the right producer and negotiating with him or her. Once you've put all these steps into place you'll be all set to proceed. Whilst there will be many demands upon your time and money it'll be worth it for the end result.

8 Best Movies about Wine According to a Certified Sommelier

by Mark F.

Do you love wine? Do you love movies? Well, then you're in for a treat! In this blog post, we are going to discuss the 10 best movies about wine according to me, a certified sommelier.

My name is Mark. I am a certified sommelier, with 10+ years of experience, and I want to share my top 8 favorite films that showcases wine. So, sit back, relax, and get ready to learn about some great movies that will make you want to open a bottle of wine or two.

What Are the Best Movies About Wine?

1) Sideways

To no one's surprise, Sideways is the most well-known and influential movie about wine. After the movie was released, this film had a significant impact on Pinot Noir sales while lowering Merlot sales throughout the US.

Sideways is a 2004 American comedy-drama film directed and written by Alexander Payne along with Jim Taylor. Two men in their forties, Miles Raymond (Paul Giamatti) and Jack Cole (Thomas Haden Church), a past-his-prime actor and a depressed teacher/writer, go on a weeklong bachelor trip to California's Central Coast wine country. They visit wineries, drink wine, and discuss their failed relationships.

The film was a critical success, grossing over $100 million worldwide, and was nominated for five Academy Awards, including Best Picture.

If you're looking for a film that accurately portrays wine country, then Sideways is a must-watch. The movie does an excellent job of depicting the nuances and complexities of wine, as well as the people who work in the industry. Additionally, it's just a really great film overall with amazing performances by Paul Giamatti and Thomas Haden Church.

Fun Fact: In the film, Miley Raymond (Paul Giamatti) repeatedly snubs Merlot wine throughout most of the film. But few people are aware that one of the final scenes (diner) depicts him having a burger and an expensive French wine, which is actually Merlot!

2) Somm

Somm is a documentary that follows four sommeliers as they prepare for the Master Sommelier Examination, one of the most difficult exams in the world.

The film gives an inside look at the intense pressure and dedication required to become a Master Sommelier. While it may not be as entertaining as some of the other films on this list, it's a must-watch for anyone interested in wine or the world of sommeliers.

If you're looking to learn more about wine, then Somm is the perfect film for you. The documentary does an excellent job of covering a wide range of topics, from the history of wine to the different types of wines. Additionally, it's fascinating to see the dedication and hard work that goes into becoming a Master Sommelier.

3) Bottle Shock

Bottle Shock is a 2008 American film based on the 1976 wine competition known as the "Judgment of Paris", in which California wines competed against French wines and won.

The film stars Alan Rickman, Bill Pullman, and Chris Pine, and tells the story of how Californian wine growers took on the French wine industry at the 1976 Judgment of Paris wine tasting.

If you're looking for a film that's both historical and entertaining, then Bottle Shock is the perfect choice. The movie does an excellent job of explaining the background of the 1976 wine competition, as well as depicting the rivalry between French and Californian wines. Additionally, the performances by Alan Rickman and Bill Pullman are fantastic.

Fun Fact: In 1976, the Judgment of Paris was one of the most significant events to demonstrate how great of a wine region Napa Valley is. Following the conclusion, some people stated that French red wines would mature better than California reds. As a result, there was a re-tasting in 2006 to see if this was true. The findings revealed that, yet another panel of experts preferred the California wines to their French counterparts.

4) Uncorked

Uncorked is a 2020 American drama film directed by Prentice Penny and written by Penny and Ingrid Escajeda. The film stars Mamoudou Athie, Courtney B. Vance, Niecy Nash, Melonie Diaz, Sasha Compère, Meek Mill, and Matt McGorry.

The film follows the story of a young man named Elijah (Mamoudou Athie) who wants to become a master sommelier, against the wishes of his father Louis (Courtney B. Vance), who wants him to take over the family's barbecue business.

If you're looking for a film that's both heartwarming and educational, then Uncorked is the perfect choice. The film is an entertaining and informative narrative about the world of wine and the difficulty in becoming a Master Sommelier (Hollywood version). As well as the relationship between a father and his son.

5) Sour Grapes

Sour Grapes is a 2016 American documentary film directed by Jerry Rothwell and Reuben Atlas. The film tells the story of Rudy Kurniawan, a wine fraudster who was convicted of selling fake wines.

The film is fascinating because it gives an inside look at the world of wine fraud, and how someone like Rudy Kurniawan was able to fool so many people in the industry. In addition, it's an excellent film for anybody interested in learning more about the world of high-end wine buyers.

If you like Dateline/20/20 (TV shows), or if you're looking for a film that is both educational and entertaining, then Sour Grapes is the perfect choice. The movie does an excellent job of depicting the world of expensive cult wines, as well as the world of wine fraud.

6) A Good Year

A Good Year is a 2006 British-American romantic comedy-drama film directed and produced by Ridley Scott and super star cast featuring Russell Crowe, Marion Cottillard, Didier Bourdon, Abbie Cornish, Alan Rickman, and Albert Finney.

The film tells the story of a British investment banker (Russell Crowe) who inherits a vineyard in Provence and begins to learn the wine business.

If you're looking for a film that's both romantic and heartwarming, then A Good Year is the perfect choice. The film does a wonderful job of showcasing the stunning environment of wineries and their vineyards.

7) From The Vine

From The Vine is a 2019 Canadian drama film directed by Sean Horgan and starring Joe Pantoliano, Paulo Costanzo, and Alessandro Juliani.

The film follows the story of an Italian-Canadian man named Giovanni (Joe Pantoliano) who returns to Italy to take over his family's vineyard after the death of his father.

From The Vine is the ideal film if you're searching for a wonderfully shot travelogue with a heartwarming tale of rediscovering your origins. The film does an excellent job of showcasing rural Italy and its charming small communities.

8) A Walk in the Clouds

A Walk in the Clouds is not known to be a movie about wine. It's a 1995 American romantic drama directed by Alfonso Arau and starring Keanu Reeves, Aitana Sánchez-Gijón, Giancarlo Giannini, and Anthony Quinn.

The film tells the story of an American soldier (Keanu Reeves) who returns home from World War II and falls in love with a woman (Aitana Sánchez-Gijón) who is pregnant with another man's child. And it turns out her family owns a winery in the Napa Valley.

If you're searching for a romantic film with terrific wine scenes, A Walk in the Clouds is the ideal option. The film effectively shows the work involved in running a winery. From waking up in the middle of the night to battle frozen vines, to a lovely harvest scene.

How to Choose a Gaming Keyboard

How to Choose a Gaming Keyboard

All gamers strive for the perfect setup. The keyboard you use is an integral part of that potential perfection. How do you go about choosing your perfect gaming keyboard? What sort of things do you need to factor into your decision making process before purchasing one? Read on to find some top tips for picking your ideal gaming keyboard.

Try a Well-Known Brand

The best option at your disposal is to go with what works. An established company with a trail of satisfied customers is always something that you can rely on for quality and assurance. The different types of gaming keyboard at Lenovo are definitely worth checking out. They have a versatile range of viable options for you to choose from. They cater to lots of different budget ranges and different gaming needs. There’s bound to be something that catches your eye.

Keyboard Size

Keyboard size is one of the first things to consider. How big your keyboard is depends on the size of your gaming setup, how big your hands are, and how many other things you have to do with your hands. If you are using a dual control gaming system, you might be in the market for a smaller keyboard size. If your keyboard is your main way of performing game functions, a larger one that you can access easily is probably your best bet.

Keyboard Accessories and Aesthetic

What do you want your keyboard to look like? There is everything from plain old keyboards to fully functioning LED disco keyboards. You might find it useful to have the keys lit up, in fact, it could improve your overall gaming experience because you will be able to see the controls and commands without much effort or eye straining. Or, you might find that kind of flashy display distracts from the focus of playing the game. In which case, you’re going to lean towards something more conservative.

Rubber Dome vs Mechanical Dome

One major influence on keyboard price is the two types of switches. Rubber dome keyboards are a really common representation of a keyboard and are not as specialist as mechanical keyboards. Mechanical keyboards are generally regarded as much better for gamers. They are naturally more expensive because they are a higher quality and less common.

Rubber dome keyboards have the upper hand when it comes to noise output. They are significantly quieter than mechanical keyboards because the rubber under the keys dampens any typing noise. However, they are harder to clean than mechanical keyboards which can be completely dismantled in order to give them a deep clean. So, there are advantages and disadvantages to both types and what you go for ultimately depends on how much you have to spend in your wallet and which you prefer.

Conclusion

Whatever you decide, put your trust in your own instincts. Only you know what you need from your gaming keyboard and only you can execute the perfect purchase. There are various keyboards that increase in function depending on how serious you take your gaming.

MOVIE REVIEW: Top Gun: Maverick

TOP GUN: MAVERICK— 4 STARS

Inside the fighter jets featured in Top Gun: Maverick, the aviators must endure G forces up to nine times the norm, exceeding human limits of constitution. Each challenging turn and sharp increase of speed pushes and pulls on all parts of the body from head to toe and the very aircraft they are flying. In true, rugged fashion as a legacy sequel aiming for the pinnacle of performance on and off camera, the movie exerts the very same pressure of gravity on us as we find ourselves glued to our seats with every flyby and bead of sweat.

Top Gun: Maverick’s callback opening sequences set up and affirm the film’s solidifying intentions. The same opening text defining the establishment and name of the Fighter Weapons School hits with that same Harold Faltermeyer bell, now boosted by composer Hans Zimmer, to announce the title and doubles that synthesized gong to add our character call sign subtitle. Immediately after, Life of Pi’s Oscar-winning cinematographer Claudio Miranda and Kenny Loggins’ “Danger Zone” bring us back to the busy-body deck of an aircraft carrier. The views and cuts of the mechanic crews at work and the screaming jets they unleash look and feel familiar, but they are presented closer, faster, and more powerful because these planes aren’t your dad or grandad’s F-14 anymore.

This gravity of consequence, importance, muscle, and heritage permeates every airspace of Top Gun: Maverick. Updated for a contemporary environment, the raw machismo is remodeled to match the progressive excellence and fortitude demanded of pilots today. The days of Marlboro Man-level cowboy pilots are virtually over– all save one: Capt. Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, played by, as many are calling “the last real movie star,” Tom Cruise.

With shades of Lightning McQueen from Cars 3, Pete Mitchell is the senior legend in an increasing field of newfangled pilots cut from a different jib of specialized training. He’s a true dogfighter with the confirmed kills to prove it. When necessary, Maverick can fly circles around these youngbloods to prove his chops, but, after breaking too many rules with prior assignments, it took his old wingman “Iceman,” now Admiral Tom Kazansky (a returning Val Kilmer) and the Commander of the Pacific Fleet, bailing him out in order to bring him back to Top Gun as a teacher.

Overseen by Vice Admiral Beau “Cyclone” Simpson (Jon Hamm) and Rear Admiral Solomon "Warlock" Bates (Charles Purnell of The Last Ship), Mitchell is tasked to train the best of the current crop for an extremely difficult air mission that targets a uranium facility in an unnamed rival country. Of the assembled aviators, two alphas emerge in Lieutenant Jake "Hangman" Seresin (Glen Powell of Everybody Wants Some!!) and Lieutenant Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw (Whiplash’s second-billed Miles Teller), the son of Maverick’s late RIO partner Nick “Goose” Bradshaw.

LESSON #1: COMPETITION BREEDS SUCCESS– There’s an old line from the first film that faintly echoes in the new one. Tom Skerrit’s “Viper” once proclaimed to his assembled students, “Just remember, when it’s over, we’re all on the same team.” Pete Mitchell’s memorable call sign screams “loner,” yet here he is trying to eschew his old example to mold a cohesive team skilled enough and brave enough to perform aerial miracles and face death. Competition breeds success, but only if rivals can set aside egos and personal conflicts to raise each other up for the common goal at hand. In a way, above the plot to the film’s stature itself, we have a canny Tom Cruise willing to pass a baton and share a sun-scorched spotlight with new faces.

Miles Teller and Glen Powell both auditioned for the Rooster role. Teller won, but Powell was so good they kept him on as the cocksure stud of the bunch. This writer believes reversing their roles would have spiced this dynamic up even more. Powell has garrulous charisma (strap a jetpack to his back and make him a star already) where he would be more convincing and interesting singing “Great Balls of Fire” with a dimpled smirk in one moment while squinting with indignation the next. Likewise, Teller has always been edgier as an actor, with sharper teeth making him more suitable as the temporary braggart of intimidation.

In Top Gun: Maverick’s after hours on the ground, Pete also finds himself reconnecting with Penny Benjamin, the butt of a joke from the original film who is a living and breathing (and single) old flame, played by Oscar winner Jennifer Connelly in a Legend reunion with Cruise. Running “The Hard Deck” saloon frequented by the local seamen with her own sly grit, she becomes his confidante, anchor, and sounding board to the drama that exists both with the precarious mission and the tenuous family history festering with Rooster.

LESSON #2: THE CHOSEN VOICE OF YOUR CONSCIENCE– In moments of peril, Mitchell still utters “Talk to me, Goose” under his breath. Hearing and seeing Rooster look like a spitting image of his father tickling the ivories and crooning Jerry Lee Lewis turns Maverick into Rick Blaine from Casablanca hearing “As Time Goes By.” The memories flood his psyche and chiseled mettle. It’s quite possible we all talk to some earmarked and haunting voice of conscience, be that a form of God, a memorable mentor, a vital family member, or Jiminy Cricket. In a mach speed world of “if you think, you’re dead,” reflection moments and their spurred reactions can mean life and death. Do you listen, act, or do both?

LESSON #3: IT’S THE PILOT, NOT THE PLANE– To that end, Top Gun: Maverick finds its chosen mantra to belabor that point further. The line of “It’s the pilot, not the plane” arrives like a repeated refrain to bolster principles and swagger. Even for those who call Top Gun movies right-wing wet dreams of pro-war propaganda, the current battlefield and modern big budget moviemaking, for that matter, are not purely mano a mano anymore. The human element has often been exchanged for unmanned tools and/or advances of technology. However, the savvy resolve and the spectacle of Top Gun: Maverick are only made possible and, more importantly, believable by the authoritative people making it happen.

Tom Cruise is this movie’s most valuable special effect, not something cooked up on the computer or even the harrowing majesty of the fantastic machines themselves. Director John Kosinski (Oblivion, Tron: Legacy) and the bevy of credited story contributors and screenwriters (including The Batman’s Peter Craig, The Jungle Book’s Justin Marks, American Hustle’s Eric Warren Singer, veteran polisher Ehren Kruger, and Tom’s Jack Reacher and M:I buddy Christopher McQuarrie) grants the star and producer all access to the toybox. With his insistence towards aerial coordinator Capt. Brian Ferguson, stunt coordinator Casey O’Neil (Mank), second unit director Eric Schwab (Valkryie), there are no green screen or CGI aerial shots in the film. Even the close up cockpit shots are taken during real in-flight sequences. That’s downright astounding and a blistering sensation to see on the largest and loudest screen you can find.

Speaking about this sequel on bonus feature material from the 4K disc release of the original, Tom said, “I didn’t want to just do it. I wanted to deliver.” The first film was a formative experience for him learning the vast workings of making movies. He returns as a master of orchestrated image, glamor, and showmanship and lives up to his words and promise. Kelly McGillis’s Charlie was right to say “so you’re the one” 36 years ago. That defining label has transcended to the actor himself. Until proven otherwise (especially with two Mission: Impossible films in the pipeline), his ego is decidedly not writing checks his body can’t cash. Even when Ed Harris’s Rear Admiral Chester Cain tries to hammer Maverick with “The end is inevitable,” a pause and a half-smirk from Cruise answers “Maybe so, but not today.”

Just like the first film, in order to “get” Top Gun: Maverick, you don’t need to be a guy or a dad. Besides, Top Gun and Top Gun: Maverick are not 100% Dad Movies for a multitude of reasons that will be discussed in an upcoming episode of the Cinephile Hissy Fit podcast. Anyone with working eyes or ears can see or hear its supersonic and stoic qualities. The draw is there for multiple demographics. It may not ooze with the same raw coolness and carnal heat and burn with the same pungent gas as the first film, but feel free to call this series “seminal” instead with a legacy already ironclad in the making.

LESSON #4: MAKE US PROUD– Through it all, both Top Gun films come down to the same equation as plenty of other military movie journeys. It’s most always about the man on your left and the man on your right. In the case of the two-pilot cockpits, they also added the guy who’s got your back literally and figuratively. Turn off the stuntwork and special effects when you can and look at the moments of weakness at the same time as the moments of strength. The sequel, even when it gets borderline over-the-top with its heroics, takes those personal stakes and adds off-the-charts courage and towering wisdom from cemented experience.
