5 Movies You Probably Shouldn’t Watch if You’re Moving to a New Home

Let’s face it: there are some movies that you just shouldn’t watch. They might not be to your taste, or they might be ones that you probably shouldn’t watch late at night by yourself. But then, there are also movies you might want to avoid if they depict certain actions in life.

For example, if you’re planning to move home soon or are thinking of buying your first house, there are some movies you might want to avoid watching before doing those things. Otherwise, they might put you off the idea of moving to a new abode!

1. The Money Pit

If you’re a fan of movies made in the 1980s, one that might spring to mind that relates to moving home is The Money Pit. It’s a 1986 classic starring Tom Hanks and Shelley Long and tells the story of a young couple renovating a house they just bought.

As you can probably tell from the film’s title, The Money Pit is about a house that needs a lot of renovation but quickly becomes a nightmare for the young couple who bought it.

2. Mouse Hunt

Some people are lucky enough to inherit a house from a wealthy benefactor in their family. They might have grand designs for decorating their new home and may even forward their mail to https://www.physicaladdress.com while they start packing their belongings.

However, moving into a newly-inherited home doesn’t always go to plan. That’s certainly the case for the two down-on-their-luck brothers in the 1997 movie Mouse Hunt who inherit a multi-million dollar estate but can’t sell it until they evict a tenacious mouse from it first.

3. La Maison du Bonheur

The 2006 French movie La Maison du Bonheur (A House of Your Dreams) is about a miserly patriarch that tries to buy a country house for his family. Yet, he finds it extremely challenging, and nothing seems to go right for him in the process.

4. Flip That Romance

Are you thinking of buying a home to renovate and then sell on for profit? If so, you might want to avoid watching the 2019 movie Flip That Romance. It tells the story of two rival property flippers that buy and renovate opposing sides of a duplex property.

The backstory of those two people is they were former lovers. However, this particular project rekindles the romance between them. If you flip properties for a living and have an old flame that does the same, you may not experience the same happy ending!

5. Funny Farm

Last but not least, there’s the classic 1988 movie Funny Farm starring Chevy Chase. The plot centers around him and his wife, who move to the country to pen a novel in peace. However, the experience is anything but peaceful, with disaster awaiting them at every turn.
